Dating old singer sewing machines
Several years ago, I was given an antique Singer treadle sewing machine that has been passed down through my family for a few generations.
I had no idea when it was manufactured or its model number.
To date your Singer Featherweight, you will need to locate the serial number on the bottom of your machine.
It has two letters followed by a series of six numbers.
Now open the slide plate and look at the Bobbin Case.
Locate the Bobbin Position Finger and note in which direction it is pointing.
How to Identify an old machine without a serial number..?
There is a lesser possibility that it could be the Model 191 or 206 but they can be identified at the same location and only one design was used on these machines. The first Featherweights batched in 1933 begin with the two-letter prefix 'AD'.
